jp made a flippant remark and I said I might back him/her on this.
2 seconds on google: READ, weep, and go buy something nice for yourself to help make you feel good again.
I will continue to research for specific names of companies, but odds are we all have something unspeakable like that in our closet. (literally)
I was sort of the position of don't ask any questions before, and I have half jokingly asked the cashier at Old Navy if the products were made by children and she got very serious and said firmly NO.
I will take that at face value and say jp did not know what she/he was talking about in this particular case, but in reality the remark was not far from the truth.
In the above mentioned article there is a lot of talk about carpets being made by children strapped to the machines, so in my defense the last 2 carpets I bought were Canadian made and in a past life I used to pick the carpets up for shipping directly from the manufacturer. I never once saw a child in the factory.
Be proud buy Canadian and eliminate the guess work.

Hey 40 And No Boat,
Do you know how certain countries get rich????????? They sell a lot of factory products. So, it's great to only buy Canadian stuff but what you're saying is "Hey, let's keep Canada rich and screw (fill in with whatever third class coutry you want)." I know it's a lot more complicated than that but still... Plus, even if you got rid of child labor, the children in question could be forced into monstrosities like prostitution.
pdt princess, you are stunningly intelligent. how old are you?
So by your thinking 40 and No Boat, we shouldn't be allowed to sell our softwood to the U.S. because they should be buying American?
Sorry, I'm all about free and fair trade.
pdt: I could have sworn you were calling jp out to name her/himself because he/she probably had some clothing or whatever from the same countries. I guess jp was not an obvious enough call out. I can call out their name myself, j p.
Maybe I read the rant wrong.
My point is first, how many morals are we (rich countries) willing to sacrifice to get a good deal.
Secondly, what message is society sending to the young folk about continuing this tradition with unexplicably cheap products and our hunger for them.
Thirdly, I don't promote kids being forced into anything but being kids, but if one were to get their knickers in a twist about where certain products are made and by whom, simply buy Canadian.
Concerned: Are you following the same bouncing ball as everybody else? I never said anything of the sort and I have been lucky enough to have profited from NAFTA and other cross-border trade.
I definitely know which side my bread is buttered.
Once again pdt, the blogger's name is jp.
Why thank you Jacy. As for my age, that's for me to know and you to find out;)
