Worthwhile Canadian Initiative

I feel slightly queasy about this but instead of letting this Eckler/We-all-know-who feud take over my big day in the the blogosphere, I am going to shamelessly exploit it. Besides Eckler has enabled my comment over at her blog presumably because she wants to harness the exploding Tearfree power. Of course, it could have been a totally clueless move on her part , but she’s no slouch when it comes to spotting a PR opportunity and today is clearly a big day for her too.

Eckler hasn’t done anything quite so exhibitionistic since the infamous New York Times Modern Love column last spring. It was a total PR triumph and got her into
Gawker just when her book was being published in the States.

I’m thinking what with her “friend’s” book coming out, she has spotted another opportunity to get herself into Gawker.

I can see the hedline now “Canada not so boring after all. Bitchslapping babe columnists test toxicity limits.” And of course there have to be pictures of both of them in their full babealicious northern glory.

And in case you're wondering what the slappee in this round is up to...

You know, I know both these dames, and neither is particularly pleasant. Eckler is completely snowing the Mommies by suggesting she's a dear, sweet person -- she is as nasty a beeyotch as McLaren. However, McLaren is actually intelligent and a talented writer. She is catty, yes, but also witty and observant. A conversation with her is interesting. A conversation, on the other hand, with Becky is deeply disturbing. She is dumb, self-obsessed, neurotic, and at times deranged.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but in this catfight, I am rooting for McLaren. Go Leah!!!!

I'm rooting for Eckler.
So she has a blog? So what? So do millions of others. You don't like it, don't read it.
Mclaren is the meanest be-yotch you'll ever meet. Trust me on this. Eckler pretty much has North Toronto wrapped around her finger. Mclaren is a homewrecker and not even her "Friends" like her. If she lost her job, a column I can never get past the first two sentences, her "Friends" would never talk to her. I don't know Eckler. Which may be a blessing in disguise.
Still, I am rooting for Eckler! Go Eckler!

I have edited them both. I won't comment on what either one of them are like as human beings -- let's just say not very nice -- but trust me, McLaren is a thousand times the writer. Eckler's prose was/is stunningly bad in every way -- spelling, basic grammar, sentence structure, subject matter, the list goes on and on and on. For a while she was investigated at the Post for making up names and quotes in her columns since the library could find no record anywhere of some of the people she was quoting.

She was also very big on using her space in the Post to settle personal scores or get herself out of trouble with her various -paramours (all the while writing about her engagement, I might add). And that's why other journalists don't like her. She violates every basic tenet of journalism. And now she appears to be using her child to get attention for herself, and has seemingly strayed from writing about the poor kid, and once again is using her space to take public shots at people she feels have crossed her.
