WE KEEP TABS ON ABSURD TRENDS, IDEAS, PEOPLE AND THINGS INCLUDING FRIVOLOUS IP LAWSUITS, INVISIBLE DEODORANT, MUMMY BLOGGERS, CANADIAN WEATHER, CROCS SANDALS, SOFTWOOD LUMBER DISPUTES, HIPSTER PARENTS, DR. OETKER, AND MORE. WE ALSO PROVIDE OCCASIONAL ANTIDOTES TO THE CRAZINESS
That's it? One line or two in a long list of offenders and CrazyLady goes off her rocker? It's not like CrazyLady didn't say all the things this woman is saying she said, and that it wasn't shocking to read (which is why she deleted the Mothering High post, I bet, but it can still be found on Yahoo cached pages). If she's so sensitive about her commitment to mothering, why did she write that stupid post to begin with?
I just got back from reading that screed, and the equally articulate and thoughtful comments. I think the spittle actually came through my computer screen.
Do all the mommies work that blue? Mommies sure didn't talk like that when I was a kid. Mind you, none of the mommies I knew had the time to work themselves into such a rage over trivial offences, not having two nannies to take care of the details while off mobilizing their flash mommy mobs.
All I can say is that I was critical of Eckler because she has not one - but TWO nannies (for one child!). Does someone who works from home and spends as much time with her kid as she claims, really require a weekend nanny as well? Also, in her original post (which she has taken down) she said that she never feeds her daughter or changes dirty diapers. I'm sorry - but I find that really, really odd. Certainly not something to brag about. I think Eckler was particularly hostile in her response because she knows I'm right. Otherwise, it wouldn't have bothered her so much.
What is hilarious among those comments is the apparent effort to hold up Eckler -- Eckler, of all people!!! -- as some kind of feminist hero for writing that juvenile, puerile rant.
A few things to remember:
A. The Eckler jab was very low down in the Winnipeg Sun column and made up a very short part of it, and it quoted directly from Eckler's own blog. She said it. The woman didn't make it up. Eckler went on and on about never having spent a day alone with her child and all the other things she refuses to do for her child. One kid, a job she can do from home, and two nannies. Would we have known this without Eckler herself sharing it with us? Nope.
B. Eckler as some kind of feminist hero is hilariously ludicrous. She is a "mean girl" like no other. She has done some very "old-fashioned" things to get ahead in the business that no feminist would do with a gun to her head. She isn't employed full-time at any paper now because the word got around about how she operates.
These Koolaid Mommies really don't have a clue who they're defending!

Well, I tried to comment but alas my comment was not accepted. I don't know why.
All I said was it was awesome to be on the same list as Britney, Madonna and Angelina.
And I hoped Rebecca's nannies knew how to use a car seat.
What's wrong with that?
