I just finished that Caitlyn Flannigan book, To Hell With All That, about loving your inner housewife. Far from being the anti-feminist screed I had heard it was, I actually found the book very interesting and thought-provoking in places, although I certainly didn't agree with everything she had to say (like the premise that working mothers often choose to work -- as we all know, most of us don't have any choice in the matter).

But, I am somewhat embarrassed to say, the whole marital sex chapter rang true for me. I am on my second marriage and doing things differently this time. Flannigan maintains that the key to a happy marriage is to make sure he's getting it regularly, because if he's getting it regularly, he's happy, and if he's happy, he's far more likely to help out around the house, take the kids off your hands, which means you're happy, and when you're happy you're hornier, etc etc. -- it all works out to everyone's benefit. From my experience, I can't say I disagree with this old-fashioned notion.

Thoughts, Tearfree? Granny? Anyone?

I haven't bought the book because I read most of those pieces when they first came out. Frankly, I've never understood why the woman became such a lightning rod.

She seems to be all about common sense.

Here's a good discussion for those who are interested
